A New Tex-Mex Restaurant Is Now Open In The CSRA
Downtown Waynesboro Gets A New Tex-Mex Restaurant!
Peach Pit Cantina, a new Tex-Mex- restaurant, has recently opened in Downtown Waynesboro of Burke County.
The owner of the new restaurant is Ana Segura. She is also the owner of Chilitos Mexican Grill in Sylvania, outside of Waynesboro. Chilitos Mexican Grill would often get customers from the Waynesboro area, so she decided to open this new restaurant in the downtown area.
Tex-Mex vs Mexican
As mentioned, the cuisine is Tex-Mex, which is slightly different from Mexican cuisine. Tex-Mex is a fusion of Mexican and American Cuisine.
Peach Pit Cantina will be exactly that. The menu will offer a menu that consists of traditional Mexican cuisine along with some desires that are influenced by American tastes. Dish entrees will be made from scratch for the most part with fresh ingredients. Salsa which often has a kick to it will have a milder taste than the authentic Mexican versions.
More that will be included on the menu is Burritos. Did you know that burritos are the staple dish in Mexican- American cuisine? It is one of the most popular Mexican dishes in the United States, but if you were ever to go into the countryside of Mexico and ask for a burrito, you may or may not receive a small donkey!
For the more authentic dishes, the menu includes tamales, molcajete, and birria.
Birria has become a very popular dish in the United States over the past few years. Birria consists of slow-cooked meat with a special sauce made from dried peppers. The broth that it makes is then served on the side with the Birria.
Some of the menu items will also resemble Chilitos, Segura’s restaurant in Sylvania, but with a few name changes. But everything won’t be the same, there will also be dishes that are unique to the new Waynesboro restaurant. Peach Pit Cantina will also offer a full bar and a lounge area.
Current hours:
Sunday-Monday 11-9 pm
Tuesday – Thursday 11-9:30 pm
Friday and Saturday 11-10:30 pm

Where is my go-to favorite Mexican Restaurant? Well, it is in Warrenton. El Maguey Mexican Bar and Grill. It’s located at 725 Main Street in Warrenton. For me, living in Aiken County, it is a road trip and worth every second of the drive. They are family-owned and operated, and the food is on point. I’ve never left there without a to-go box. The portions are super big and super delicious. My go-to there is the Burrito Cancun. A large tortilla with steak, chicken, shrimp, rice, and beans then topped with cheese dip and red burrito sauce.
I promise you, there will be leftovers for later in the day or for lunch tomorrow. They also have a new location in Wrens too. Now I can’t drive to Warrenton every time I want a great Mexican meal, chips, and cheese dip, but there are so many great locations to pick from.
My Top Picks For Mexican Food
- Salsa’s – All locations
- Pablo’s – North Augusta
- Mi Rancho – All
