There Are Now New Requirements In Georgia For SNAP Benefits
Changes are currently being implemented for people in Georgia who receive SNAP Benefits.
While in recent years, benefits did not depend on the recipient’s employment status or whether or not they were looking for work, the new requirements say Able Bodied Adults Without Dependents must either find employment or enroll in a program that helps them to learn a skill — In the hopes of becoming more employable.
If the individual fails to successfully accomplish one of these requirements, their SNAP benefits will expire after three months. Furthermore, according to WRDW, they will not be eligible to receive SNAP benefits for three years after the time the benefits concluded.
WRDW also noted in their article that the job incentive program was actually in place years ago when SNAP first rolled out, but over the years many counties in the area were able to apply for waivers due to high unemployment rates.
