True Aiken Announces New Location After Temporary Closure Due To Fire Damage
True Aiken announces a new location to come in just a few weeks after its temporary closure.
True Aiken is a clothing store known to sell items from original Aiken apparel to Aiken-inspired gifts and home goods. Back in March they unfortunately had to close their business due to a fire that happened in an office next to their store.
This is what was shared on Facebook by True Aiken Owner:
“Our store is still intact although we took on a lot of smoke damage as did several other stores in the building. It was heartbreaking to say the least to see the space that I have poured my heart into over the past several months full of smoke.
Aiken Public Safety responded quickly and effectively and I am thankful for them tonight. I’ve also received an outpouring of kind words from so many downtown business owners and residents already. That’s why I love this town, the community is second to none.
We will be closed until further notice.”
Cyndi’s Sweet Shoppe closed in late September of 2023 after a decade of being at the location.
While True Aiken was closed they were able still participate as a vendor at different community events with some merchandise and inventory that was either on the way or some that had been stored at their home.
One of these events was the 2024 Aiken Steeplechase. They sold their new spring collection of t-shirts, sweatshirts, and new hats, including bucket hats and their Harris Tweed bags.
They are planning to reopen in early May. In the meantime, they have begun to add items to their online store. You can even arrange local pick up with them.
It seems like the Aiken community and surrounding cities are excited for this place to be coming back.
