72 Year Old Georgia Man Graduates College With Mom In Attendance
Recently, a Georgia man graduated at 72 years old! While that alone is a huge accomplishment, there was a special person in his life who was able to watch it happen- his mom, who is 99 years old!
Sam Kaplan is a 72-year-old man from Lawrenceville, Georgia and he recently graduated from Georgia Gwinnett College. Kaplan entered college 4 years ago and earned his degree in cinema and media arts.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, Kaplan graduated from high school back in 1969, and college was never in his plan. But 4 years ago, things changed. He was listening to the radio while riding down the highway and heard that Georgia Gwinnett College was offering a cinema and media arts degree. He got off the next exit and registered for classes.
Kaplan has been interested in scriptwriting and has already authored two books. He’s always loved to write and thought about turning stories into screenplays.
Returning to school after 50 years was a challenge, but also a great experience for Kaplan. He graduated Summa Cum Laude. But perhaps the greatest moment about his graduation was having his 99-year-old mother watch!
And, just recently in Augusta, there was an 80 year old who graduated on her birthday!
