Hotel In Augusta Gives Away Free Furniture For Remodeling
More sinks ready to find a new home!
Sheraton Hotel on Steven’s Creek Road in Augusta, GA is gearing up for a full remodel.
So what does that mean for the furniture… everything must go! They are currently giving away all the furniture for free! All you need is a way to get them home.
They have sofas, mattresses, chairs, tables, lamps, sinks, wall art, and more!
According to a Sheraton staff member, they are doing two floors at a time. Right now they are removing the 4th and 5th floors.
In about a month they will be moving on to the 3rd and 2nd floor. So if you weren’t able to grab anything this time around – you might just have some luck in a few weeks from now.
Below are some pictures of the furniture they are bringing out. This is only half. Staff members say more is still coming down from the current floors that they are working on.
Did you score something nice? Here are some tips on how to clean it:
- If the couch has removable covers throw it into the washing machine.
- For tables and dressers, use mild dish soap, water, and a sponge to scrub the items down.
- Natural light could also be your best friend, letting the UV rays kill off the bacteria.
There are many more cleaning tips and hacks to make your ” old hotel furniture” like brand new.
What Happens To Old Hotel Furniture?
Hotels usually update their furnishings every 6-8 years. Dressers are usually replaced every 12 or so years. There are a few things that the hotel can decide to do with their furniture.
- A liquidator could take the furniture from the hotel’s hands and buy it by the room.
- Auction off the furniture.
- Give to a charity.
- Provide a local homeless shelter with an extra bed.
- Give away the furniture for free to the community!
Things That Clutter Our Houses
Clutter… it can consume our lives if we’re not careful! Have you ever been on a mission to de-clutter and wonder where all this stuff came from? You’re definitely not alone. Somehow, things tend to accumulate without even realizing it. And according to a new survey by Olio, there are 10 things that clutter our houses.
De-Cluttering
With a new year now underway, maybe you’re thinking of doing some decluttering. Maybe this list can help you tackle some of the things that clutter your house! My best advice for de-cluttering is not to get overwhelmed. Start with one room and one particular area. Like the bathroom. Simply clean out one drawer or cabinet.
If it helps, make a game of it. Or get your family involved! I’ve been known to set a time goal. For example, if I finish this by 11 a.m. I can (insert fun activity here)! I’ve also seen where people decide on a number of things to get rid of each day or week. Recently I saw something about getting rid of 23 things a week since it’s 2023. That’s a pretty cool idea.
Emotional Attachment
Of course, we’ve all heard plenty of de-cluttering advice. But if you’re like me… you might have an emotional attachment to certain things. I know it’s hard for me to get rid of something that a loved one gave me, especially if they’ve passed away. And of course, there’s always the “I might need this one day…” I’m guilty there too! But, most of those things have been sitting in a closet or drawer for over 5 years now. So chances are there won’t ever be a “one day” in that situation.
So, what are those things that clutter our houses? Here are the results of that Olio survey!
