Bret Michaels ‘Not Completely Out of the Woods Yet’ from Skin Cancer Scare
Bret Michaels shared in January 2020 that he underwent a biopsy that detected skin cancer. At that time, the Poison frontman underwent a procedure to remove the cancer. However, he recently had another scare, which he details via social media.
Michaels wrote, “Just knowing that I absolutely love the outdoors & the sun, but with the recent passing of my friend Jimmy Buffett, I decided it was time for a more recent check-up of something I thought was nothing. Turns out, it was something.”
Buffett died in September at age 76 after a private battle with skin cancer.
Michaels noted that he was able to undergo a procedure to remove the cancer literally the day of a show. He shared a photo of the scar he has from the procedure. Michaels said he’s “not completely out of the woods yet.” However, he also said the procedure likely saved his life, or, at the very least, extended it.
Back in 2020, Michaels shared in a statement, “After a very recent kickoff to the new year, physical & MRI, it has been brought to my attention that I have torn my right shoulder rotator cuff which would answer the question why it looks like a lump or bone was sticking out of my right shoulder. A little more complex, I will also have to undergo a procedure to remove skin cancer that was detected after a recent biopsy.”
