What would texting or social media be without emojis?! July 17 is recognized as World Emoji Day. The purpose of this day is to promote the use of emojis and spread happiness while using them.

According to Emojipedia – yes that’s the real thing – the results are in for the top 10 most used emojis of 2023.

Here are Emojipedia’s top 10 most used in 2023 so far:

When broken down by state, Georgia’s most used emoji is 😭.

We’ve been relying on emojis for so long, what were we doing before emojis? They were emoticons. For example, this 🙂 is an emoticon. I find myself often still using this emoticon heart <3.
