Nick Cannon Will Host ‘Wild ‘N Out’ Again After Previously Getting Fired
Last summer, ViacomCBS fired Nick Cannon after he made multiple anti-Semitic remarks on his Cannon’s Class podcast.
According to CBS News, while chatting with former Public Enemy member, Richard “Professor Griff” Griffin, on his podcast, the pair “contend[ed] that Jews have stolen Black people’s identity as true Hebrews.”; Cannon also implied that people with light skin are “inferior.”
They added, “Cannon referred to teachings from Louis Farrakhan, who is considered anti-Semitic by the Southern Poverty Law Center, and a conspiracy theory about the Rothschild family deemed anti-Semitic by the Anti-Defamation League.”
Nick later went to social media to apologize.
He said, “I extend my deepest and most sincere apologies to my Jewish sisters and brothers for the hurtful and divisive words that came out of my mouth during my interview with Richard Griffin. They reinforced the worst stereotypes of a proud and magnificent people and I feel ashamed of the uninformed and naïve place that these words came from.”
Now, it appears as if Viacom has forgiven him, and he has the hosting gig back.
TMZ reports that the network says that Nick is returning to the VH1 show because “not only apologized and taken responsibility for his comments, but he has also worked to educate himself and others through engagement with Jewish leaders and on his platforms.”
The forthcoming season of Wild ‘N Out will be season 16.
As we reported, Nick is currently dealing with having COVID-19, and Niecy Nash is temporarily filling in for him on The Masked Singer.
