New Details Surface After Six-Year-Old Killed In Richmond County
A six-year-old child died yesterday after being shot in the chest.
Now, new details regarding the case have been revealed.
According to WRDW, officers were dispatched to a home in Hephzibah regarding an apparent shooting on Monday.
When they arrived, they found a six-year-old child who had suffered from a gunshot wound.
The child was rushed to a nearby hospital, but sadly did not survive.
The child has been identified as Eugene Ryder Stamey.
He was shot by a family member. At the time the shooting occurred, officials were not sure if the shooting was accidental or intentional.
After investigating, The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has determined this was a deliberate shooting.
For unknown reasons, the suspect, Benjamin Goodson, 32, pointed a shotgun at the boy and pulled the trigger.
The gun did not go off the first time so Goodson pulled the trigger again. The bullet hit the child in the chest.
At this time, the relation between Goodson and the boy is not clear.
The man faces a slew of charges ranging from murder and cruelty to a child.
He will appear in court tomorrow.
