Neil Young Online Archive Available In December
It looks like you’ll be able to hear a lot of Neil Young online next month.
With his new album, The Visitor, due on December 1, Young has posted a note on his Facebook page about long-promised plans to dip into his archive for even more material. Young writes that, “My archive will open on that same day, a place you can visit and experience every song I have ever released in the highest quality your machine will allow. It’s the way it’s supposed to be. In the beginning everything is free.”
Young has previously said that the material will date back as far as his first Canadian single in 1963, but it’s unclear if any unreleased material will be part of the archive yet.
Young released an extensive The Archives Vol. 1 1963-1972 set in 2000 but has not followed it up with a second volume yet. More details about the streaming service are expected to be revealed soon.
