John Lodge on The Moody Blues’ Rock Hall Nomination
Moody Blues fans, who have long campaigned for the group to be considered for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and have considered its omission one of the Rock Hall’s greatest slights, are celebrating the group’s nomination that was announced last week.
But bassist John Lodge tells us he himself never felt slighted as class after Rock Hall class was inducted into the shrine without the Moodys getting a mention:
“No, I’ve never felt slighted…I never worked for any accolades at all. I just wanted to make my music and the other things that have come along the way have just been tremendous, and this is something else that has come along the way. People say, ‘Did you ever dream about these things?’ and the answer is no, I never did. I didn’t know what dream I was trying to chase. I wasn’t trying to chase any dreams. All I wanted to do is play my bass and sing my songs. That has led me everywhere in my life.”
The Moodys are among nine first-time nominees and 19 total for the Rock Hall’s class of 2018. The public voting is now going on at RockHall.com to create one ballot that will be added to the more than 900 cast by music industry professionals.
The inductees will be announced during December, with the ceremony taking place April 14 in Cleveland and filmed for subsequent broadcast by HBO.
