When I went on a search for a coffee table for our family room, I had a few key components in mind. I came across the Cadence table from Expand and it looked to check off all the boxes for the needs of my family of four. We spend a lot of time in this space, playing games, watching movies, working and sometimes eating, so we needed the perfect table to fit all of those activities. The added storage component set this table apart from the others and the top exanding to a raised position is why we pulled the trigger.

What Worked For Us With the Cadence Table

We’ve had the Cadence table for about two weeks now, so plenty of time to see what we think.

On arrival, the box was very heavy. But, once we got it in the door and opened the package, we were pleasantly surprised to see that the table was basically already together and additional assembly would take no time at all. It was so easy. Attaching the legs to either side was all that we had to do. The legs are horizontal pieces of thick glass with the hardware already installed, so putting them on took just a few minutes. We chose the table in the driftwood option to go with our existing style of simple and rustic.

Our family has enjoyed the Cadence table for the activities I mentioned above. Expanding the table to the higher position is easy, and with a little push, it guides itself slowly to the resting position. We enjoy playing games in both the higher and lower positions and it’s convenient to have the option of keeping the games in the storage space, so they’re easy to reach when we’re ready to play.

I personally work from home, and I’ve enjoyed time away from my desk, using the table as my workspace. It’s a nice change of scenery when working remotely or enjoying lunch during a break.

The Cadence table is very easy to clean, so that is a major plus.

What Didn’t Work For Us

While this table did fit the needs of our family and what we were looking for in a coffee table, there were some things that could have worked better for us.

In its lowest position, the table stands at only 13 inches high, which we have found too low when sitting on furniture. Not to mention we’ve hit our legs on the corner a time or two.

We’ve also found that the table is a bit more difficult to lower than it is to raise up. You have to be careful to guide it down or it moves quite fast and can slam down to close.

Overall, we have enjoyed the Cadence table for the last couple of weeks. The additional storage in the family room was much needed and the tabletop is large enough for our family of four to use for activities. The table is ideal when looking for additional space in a smaller room.
