Masters Tournament 2024: Complete Coverage

Charl Schwartzel of South Africa reacts after missing a putt on the seventh green during the third round of the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club on April 09, 2022 in Augusta, Georgia.

Let’s start out quite clearly here: There are no easy holes at Augusta National for the Masters.

But some parts of the course are far more difficult than others. Only four holes on the course are actually playing under par this weekend: 2, 5, 13 and 16. Three of those are par 5s, so that’s not shocking.

With Scottie Scheffler making easy work of the tournament, let’s take a look at the nine most difficult holes for everyone else.

  • No. 11 - White Dogwood

    The Masters - Round One

This hole is historically difficult. It’s the second hardest all time, and windy days make this miserable. It was the hardest for round 1 and 2, and is sixth hardest in round 3.

With a green protected by both a pond and bunker, players have struggled to find strokes here.

    Par 4 – 520 yards

    Average: 4.5556

  • No. 18 - Holly

    The Masters - Round One

The hole where dreams have been made… and crushed.

It’s one of the most famous finishing holes in golf, and the beautiful tee setup is just a decoy, hiding how difficult this hole is.

It’s an uphill dogleg, with two bunkers causing misery for most players on the elbow. Throw a couple more bunkers by the green, and it makes for a scary finish to the round.

    Par 4 – 465 yards

    Average: 4.4444

  • No. 5 - Magnolia

    The Masters - Round Two

Just 8 birdies on the tournament so far, for this difficult uphill, dogleg left hole.

The slope of the green is tricky, and punishes players for long shots.

    Par 4 – 495

    Average: 4.3333

  • No. 6 - Juniper

So many levels on this green, it makes for a tricky putting adventure.

    Par 3 – 180

    Average: 3.3111

  • No. 10 - Camelia

The third round has seen this hole be far more forgiving than the first two rounds.

It’s a long downhill hole, that is historically the hardest on the course.

    Par 4 – 495 yards

    Average: 4.3000

  • No. 1 - Tea Olive

    The Masters - Round Two

Just 12 birdies to be had here so far, with an uphill slight dogleg hole.

You better not miss the good part of the green on this one, or you’ll be chasing difficult putts to start your round.

    Par 4 – 445 yards

    Average: 4.2778

  • No. 4 - Flowering Crab Apple

    The Masters - Round Three

Playing uncharacteristically EASIER than normal, this sloping torture chamber still isn’t being nice.

Only nine birdies on the tournament so far.

    Par 3 – 240 yards

    Average: 3.2556

  • No. 12 - Golden Bell

    The Masters - Round One

You’ve seen this hole so many times, as it’s one of the most famous in the world. But don’t let fame cause you to be distracted by its difficulty.

The winds and narrow green, with Rae’s Creek taunting you, there aren’t many chances for success here.

HOWEVER, it’s actually played much easier than normal this year. It’s usually the fourth most difficult.

    Par 3 – 155 yards

    Average: 3.2556

  • No. 7 - Pampas

The first two rounds were a little nicer on the golfers here. But round 3 saw 23 bogeys or worse, and the bunkers surrounding the green have had a field day.

This hole is historically the 10th hardest on the course.

    Par 4 – 450 yards

    Average: 4.2333
