The 4-Way Stop.  It’s not just the law, It’s where you need to be in Edgefield County.  I ran up on this gem of a place and decided to stop and try it out.  Boy was I glad I did.

What Did I Find?

• One of the best BBQ sandwiches I’ve ever had.
• A hot dog like no other.
• A small-town mom-and-pop business.
• Two of the nicest people who own the place.
• The friendliest bunch of people eating and shopping.
• A relaxing place to sit and enjoy some great food.

They are located at 649 Jeter Street in Edgefield.  You can call ahead if you’d like at 803 384 5070.  If you’ve been around Edgefield sometime you may know it as Pete Peeler’s/Timmermans old store.

This is the 4-Way Stop Convenience Store & Langford’s Car Wash & detailing.

The 4-Way Stop Is More Than A Convenience Store

There are really two businesses located in this one building.  Not only is the 4-Way Stop there, but so is Langford’s Car Wash & Detailing.

The 4-Way Stop Convenience Store is now owned by Lillie Langford and Kelvin Thomas. Sr.  These two had been friends for some time doing other jobs separately when Kelvin asked Lillie to join him in his car wash and detailing business.  Lillie said she had no idea about washing cars but trusted Kelvin so she did it.

Not long after Lillie joined Kelvin, they were talking about their love of food and they decided to give it go and opened The 4-Way Stop Convenience Store .  This July they will celebrate 3 years of business.  I asked about the BBQ and chili recipe, and neither one would budge on how it’s made.  They said the only thing they will tell me, it’s made daily with love.  That was good enough for me.

The One Thing I Noticed That Really Stood Out!

The one thing that stood out while I was in the store more than anything, they knew everyone who came in the store.  They knew what they wanted before they ordered.  They were asking about their families and what was new in their world.  This is what I call hometown goodness at its best.

This is what you expect when you support locally owned and ran business.  Take a ride to Edgefield soon and try the what I found to be a true local business ran by great people.

  The menu is pretty simple. When what you have is good, you don't need a lot. I'm coming back for that biscuit.

  No fancy coolers here, just a good ol' fashion refrigerator loaded down with whatever you want

  No one brand loyalty here. You'll pretty much find whatever it is you are looking for.

  I say it all the time, we just don't have a lot of places for good hot dogs, I take that back now. Homemade chili, mustard and onions, Good Lawd

  The B-B-Q Sandwich. You have your choice of regular sauce or Carolina mustard. Of course, I went Carolina Mustard. It was so big it was hard to eat it all.

  Homemade pound cake can not be beat. This was a lemon pound cake. It had to have been made today! Had to be, it was so good

  The pound cake is to just die for. They don't make the pound cakes, but they are home made and made with love and goodness
