Plane Crashed Near Daniel Field in Augusta, One Dead
A plane crashed at Daniel Field off Wrightsboro Road in Augusta this morning leaving at least one person dead.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said the plane crashed into a tree and burst into flames at the crash site. Witnesses say it was a small, private plane and not a commercial aircraft. The single-engine plane took off from Daniel Field and was returning when the crash occurred.
The FAA is en route to the scene.
So far, no other information has been released.
It’s not known how many people were on the plane or how seriously anyone was hurt.
