I’ll be the first to say, We Still Love The Hair Bands. I graduated high school in 1987 and I, like you, was lucky to be a part of the great era of rock music ever. The hair bands. Here we are nearly 40 years later and these bands still make new music and still tour like it’s 1987.
Hair Bands/Metal Bands
The music was loud and the hair was high, but most Hair Bands played heavy Metal Rock. What is heavy Metal Rock? Heavy metal is a genre of rock music characterized by heavy, distorted guitars, dense bass and drums, and loud vocals. Typically, heavy metal lineups are comprised of a drummer, bassist, vocalist, lead guitarist, and rhythm guitarist. Some even used Keyboards, like Bon Jovi!

I am about to count down the top 10 greatest Hair/Metal Bands Of All Time from my high school days and the ones I still listen to today. No keep in mind it’s only a top 10 and all couldn’t make the list

I would go to as many shows as I could, One of the best hair band shows I went to, Bon Jovi opened for Ratt and Poison. The old Greenville Memorial Auditorium in Greenville South Carolina is where I saw most of the hair bands in high school. Most tickets were $19.00 and that felt like a million dollars back then but when those lights went down and the guitars started, it was magic!
