The Mafia The Mob Gangsters whatever it is that you call it, it has given us some great movies and tv shows!  Now before we get into the entertainment side of it, is it real? Does The Mafia still exist today?  I can say without a doubt, I do not know.  LOL

The Original  5 families Of The Mafia

The Five Families refer to five Italian American Mafia crime families that operate in New York City. In 1931, the five families were organized by Salvatore Maranzano following his victory in the Castellammarese War.    Salvatore Maranzano reorganized the Italian American gangs in New York City into the Maranzano, Profaci, Mangano, Luciano, and Gagliano families, which are now known as the Bonanno, Colombo, Gambino, Genovese, and Lucchese families  Better Known as the Five Families

Do The Five Families Still Exist Today? Word is they have a strong interest in New Jersey with a strong hold on South Florida, Connecticut, Vegas, and Massachusetts while the Bonanno family operates in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and Long Island
