“Lemon pepper is something that’s synonymous with the state of Georgia, and people across our nation have come to know Georgia as famous for its lemon pepper wings,” said Bell. “This is a homegrown identity.”
Georgia's lemon pepper wings have grown to be one of the most iconic staples of the state and in the culture. Lemon pepper has been referenced by tons of hip hop artists such as Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, and more. The lemon pepper flavoring has become a staple, especially in Atlanta.
The iconic wing flavor was invented in Atlanta, Georgia, where people began adding lemon pepper to buffalo wings to reduce the spice. Its popularity rose in the mid-2000s through hip hop music and culture. Now, it could become marked as the official wing flavor for the entire state.
