A new sports hub has opened at Houndslake Country Club. The Paddle Parlor, run by Aiken Pickleball Professionals, provides equipment, instruction, and a relaxing spot for local sports fans.

"What we're trying to create is an atmosphere where people can come in, relax, have a cup of coffee and converse with their friends," said Benjamin Lacy, owner of Aiken Pickleball Professionals, per The Post and Courier.

Inside the shop, visitors find paddles, sports wear, and Selkirk gear. If you can't find what you need, the staff will order it straight to your door.

Club members play at no cost, and nonmembers can choose between yearly passes, monthly options, or single-game fees.

The Paddle Parlor offers beginner classes and one-on-one coaching runs throughout the week, as reported by The Post and Courier. This new location mixes sports with socializing — once a month, members enjoy appreciation socials featuring complimentary food and drinks, live music, and pickleball. Nonmembers can pay $15 to join.

Lacy aims to incorporate a charitable component by partnering with the Wounded Warrior Project, with plans underway for an annual event dedicated to supporting veterans.
