An Aiken man was found dead in a backyard storage shed this morning in the 300 block of Greenwich Drive near Silver Bluff Road in Aiken.

The Aiken Department of Public Safety says officers were called to the home at 11:09 am to a report of a shooting.

Details are limited, but Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables says the body of 22-year-old Jalen Jones was found in a backyard shed. Ables said Jones had multiple gunshot wounds.

Jones body will be sent to Newberry for an autopsy.

Details about what led up to the shooting or any leads on suspects in the case have not been released.

"Information from the community is vital to solving this and any crime. Anyone with information on this crime is urged to call Aiken Department of Public Safety at (803) 642-7620 or submit an anonymous online tip at www.cityofaikensc.gov/offices/public-safety/crime-tip," according to a news release from the Aiken Department of Public Safety.

Victim in Sunday's Shooting Near Lake Olmstead Identified

Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen has released the name of the man shot and killed Sunday night in the 2100 block of C Street, near Lake Olmstead.

Bowen said 22-year-old Jaleen Xavier Sumpter was shot at least one time and pronounced dead at the scene at 8:45 pm

Another person was shot in the leg and was taken to Wellstar MCG for treatment. The victim's condition and identity have not been released.

Bowen said an autopsy on Sumpter has been scheduled.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office has not released any information about the shooting.
