A week from now, one of the local WifeSavers in the Augusta area will be giving away FREE banana pudding. The purpose of the free banana pudding is in honor of the 2nd Annual Benny Dukes Day. Benny Dukes Day will be taking place on October 31.
Benny Dukes, former owner of the Washington Road WifeSaver, passed away last year on September 7, 2022. He left an impact on the community and many remember his generosity whenever going to the WifeSaver, especially with the banana pudding.
He was always known for sending customers away with banana pudding, whether it was a part of their order or not. Even if he wasn’t working right then, he would give customers banana pudding.
This would’ve been his 84th birthday on Halloween this year. In his memory, the WifeSaver located on Furys Ferry Road will be doing just the same.
Did you know WifeSaver was only local to the CSRA?
Lucky us! There are five locations in total.
- Washington Road
- North Leg
- North Augusta
- Grovetown
- Furys Ferry
WifeSaver was founded in 1965 by George Cunningham. The original WifeSaver was located on Milledgeville Road, right in the front yard of Cunningham's home. The reason for the original WifeSaver began as a way for Cunningham to take on his son's, Chris Cunningham, medical bills as he was battling with polio.
While October 31st big hit will be all about the banana pudding that day, the restaurant is also known for its southern menu, serving fried chicken, veggies, and pies.
With Thanksgiving around the corner, they also are a provider of turkeys to top your Thanksgiving meal off right.
Again, to get a free banana pudding in honor of Benny Dukes Day, take a trip to the WifeSaver on Furys Ferry Rd on October 31. No time limits have been set, but there usual work hours for Tuesday is 11am - 9pm.
