Increased Security Planned for Burke County Football Game Friday
Fans attending Friday night’s football game at Burke County High School will find increased security in the wake of recent violence at the school.
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office has responded to four incidents of fights stemming from gang activity within the school since classes began late last month.
Four adults and five juveniles were charged with Affray, Disrupting a Public School, and Unlawful Gang Activity. Burke County officials say two have been arrested and warrants are out for others who were involved. More charges are expected.
“As most know, Friday’s game is a rivalry game against Thomson High School. The Burke County Sheriff’s Office wants all students, faculty, and families to enjoy the festivities without any incidents. Our agency will not tolerate any violent altercations and all parties will be taken into custody,” said Clare Allen, Public Relations Director/PIO for the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.
