South Carolina Burger King Accused of Selling Fries From The Trash To Customers
According to Yahoo News, a South Carolina Burger King is accused of selling fries from the trash to customers. Now this is just a headline and story no one wants to hear or see. Plain and simple. This happened in Union, South Carolina population of 8,393, so everyone knows everyone.
Employee Charged
Jaime Christine Major has been charged with tampering with food. The charge is a felony that can carry a sentence of up to 20 years in prison. The Assistant Manager of The Upstate Burger King is being accused of taking French fries from a trash can. She then would add them to the container where freshly cooked fries are dumped, and then put just-cooked fries on top.
The story starts on July 9th. Authorities were called to the Burger King location because of a disturbance. When officers arrived on the scene, they heard two women arguing with the staff, making threats, and using profanity. They were asked to calm down, but they were still being loud and obnoxious. The two women were arrested and were still not sure if is over the French fry issue. It must have been because of calls to The Burger King Corporate Offices.
On July 11, Burger King headquarters reported to The Union Department of Public Safety that someone reported that an employee was serving fries from the trash to customers. After the investigation, a warrant was issued for the Assistant Manager’s arrest.
Now let me say, this is not what happens in every Burger King location or any other fast food restaurant on a normal basis. As you know, All businesses have to pass inspections to open or even stay open. Restaurants have to pass health code inspections regularly. Just a bad decision made by one employee.
Now the assistant manager of this Burger King still has not posted a $20,000 bond and remains in the Union County Detention Center.
