McDuffie County – Buses Vandalized
UPDATE 03/02/2023 at 8:45 a.m.: McDuffie County school officials say someone entered the system’s transportation lot overnight and damaged 23 of the 63 buses in the fleet. A suspect has been taken into custody and criminal charges are being filed. School system officials are working on alternate transportation plans for students in the days ahead. More information will be released as it becomes available.
Due to vandalism, McDuffie County buses will not be running today. A press release went out this morning. Absences will be excused for those unable to find alternate transportation.
Due to vandalism to the McDuffie County School System’s transportation fleet that occurred overnight, we will be unable to run bus routes today, March 2, 2023. Absences for students unable to find alternate transportation to school will be excused. The incident is currently under investigation, and the transportation lot is still an active crime scene. However the investigation will not alter normal operations for Thomson High School. System administrators are assessing what the situation means for transportation needs in the coming days. We will release further information soon as we are able to do so.
