State of the Remains
According to the coroner, there was no skull and “hardly any extremities left.” The body appeared very badly decomposed. But, officials were unable to determine race or gender upon the discovery. They did find a pair of men’s tennis shoes next to the remains. Therefore, officials initially believe it to be the remains of a male.
A team worked carefully to remove the remains while preserving evidence. The body was partially covered in dirt. The team carefully dug around the body to get everything in the body bag. Most importantly, the goal was to get all of the remains for the GBI Crime Lab. The more of the remains obtained, the more evidence and key pieces to identify the victim.
