CSRA News: Alligator Shot Near Lock and Dam Park in Augusta
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources says a nearly 11 foot alligator was shot and killed close to the entrance to Lock and Dam Park in Augusta last week and two people now face charges.
Officials say the poachers were trying to load the gator into the back of a pickup truck when they were caught by officials. They’ve been charged with hunting alligators out of season. The season this year runs from August 20 through October and requires a permit.
