An Aiken County woman is behind bars more than a year after she tried to kill herself by colliding head-on with another vehicle.

Thirty-year-old Brittany Crews of Beech Island is charged with attempted murder stemming from the alleged suicide attempt at the intersection of Pine Log Road and Waycross Drive.

Investigators says Crews told a witness she planned to kill herself after a break-up by running into something head-on.  The witness then used her phone to track Crews to Pine Log Road where she saw her cross the center line and drive toward an on-coming vehicle that swerved into a nearby yard, hitting a mailbox.  The intended victim was not injured.

A warrant for Crews’ arrest was issued two months ago.

Thanks to Mary Liz Nolan of WGAC for the story.
