CSRA News: Governor Kemp Suspended Gas Tax
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp suspended the state’s gas tax Friday through the end of May to give motorists some relief at the gas pumps.
Today’s state average is $4.14 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is 15 cents less than it was a week ago. The cheapest price for gas this morning in Augusta was $3.59 at some stations. This week’s decline is primarily due to a drop in demand, as well as a decrease in crude oil prices. Gas prices are now $1.40 a gallon more than they were at this time last year.
