CSRA News: Possible Consolidation with Augusta VA Medical Centers
It’s possible there will be just one Veterans Administration Medical Center in Augusta in the future.
VA officials said Tuesday they’re working on a plan to consolidate the downtown and uptown Charlie Norwood VA Medical Centers. Both of the existing centers are decades-old. Officials say it would be cost prohibitive to make the necessary upgrades to meet current healthcare standards.
VA officials are recommending the construction of a new uptown medical center off Wrightsboro Road and closing the downtown facility.
