CSRA News: Augusta Commissioner’s Trial Rescheduled
Indicted and suspended Augusta Commissioner Sammy Sias will wait a little longer to stand trial.
The District 4 Commissioner was suspended from office in August, weeks after a grand jury indicted him on charges of tampering with evidence and lying to investigators about spending at the county’s Jamestown Community Center, which he oversaw.
Jury selection in Sias’ trial was supposed to begin later this month, but the prosecution has asked for more time to prepare their case.
It’s been rescheduled now for mid-July.
Sias is out of jail on $50,000 bond.
