Danny McBride is helping bring the infamous Garbage Pail Kids back to screens via HBO Max.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, "HBO Max is teaming with Topps, Tornante and Danny McBride’s Rough House Pictures to bring the beloved 1980s trading cards to life as an animated TV series."

The Garbage Pail Kids, a parody of the then-super popular Cabbage Patch Kids dolls, started as a trading card series with Topps back in 1985 and was adapted into an animated series in 1987 but never aired in the United States "as a result of its controversial themes."

The Hollywood Reporter notes, "The expectation is that the animated series will be family-friendly and appeal to audiences of all ages."

The Garbage Pail Kids series is currently in production, but a release date is not currently known.
