Some 10 and a half hours after the first golfers hit the course Thursday evening at Augusta National Golf Club, the horn sounded as darkness fell on Augusta. It culminated a wild day for the first ever November Masters Tournament.

Some of the highlights (Check out our Day 1 live blog coverage here):

  • Golfers only made it less than 30 minutes this morning before rain showers led to a 3-hour weather delay.
  • Paul Casey erased the memories of his disastrous 81 in the first round of the 2019 Masters, shooting an overnight-leading 7-under 65.
  • Tiger Woods looked like a determined defending champion, shooting a bogey-free 68, the lowest score he's ever had on opening day at Augusta National.
  • Bryson DeChambeau had lots of hype coming in thanks to his U.S. Open win, and new-found bulk, but delivered a topsy-turvy round of 70.
  • Fifty golfers are currently under par (though many have several holes remaining), setting the pace for a potential low winning score.
  • Two amateurs are at the bottom of the leaderboard, but both are only 7-over with 79s. Hardly anything to scoff at.
