Eskimo Pies Say Name Is Derogatory, Changing Name To Edy’s Pies

Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, who owns Eskimo Pies, has officially changed the name of the ice cream bar to Edy’s Pies.
Many considered the original name derogatory towards groups of Alaska Natives. Edy’s Pies will now be named after one of the company’s founders, Joseph Edy.
Edy’s Pies are the latest in name changes in products. Aunt Jemima Syrup and Uncle Ben’s and Cream of Wheat have also announced plans to change their name and slogans to less offensive trademarks.
