SpaceX Astronauts Listened to AC/DC, Black Sabbath During Launch, First Day of Mission
SpaceX Astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken apparently had quite a soundtrack for the first day of their #LaunchAmerica mission.
Per CNN, “On the ride to the launch pad, astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley enjoyed a handpicked playlists. Among the selections: AC/DC’s ‘Back in Black,’ Brazilian jazz song ‘Garota de Ipanema’ (‘The Girl from Ipanema’), and the Army’s French horn version of the ‘Star-Spangled Banner.'”
While “The Girl from Ipanema” isn’t the most rocking of tunes, Hurley and Behnken’s musical journey continued when they were reportedly woken up on the first morning of their mission courtesy of Black Sabbath’s “Planet Caravan.” The moody tune from Sabbath’s landmark 1970 Paranoid album contains lyrics like, “We sail through endless skies/Stars shine like eyes.”
No word yet on whether more music will be in store during the mission, but SpaceX and NASA should consider taking some notes and curate a playlist for everyone to enjoy.
