5 Tips on How to Safely Obtain Money from an ATM During COVID-19

Paying for goods and services or completing other transactions with apps or credit/debit cards during the pandemic has been a great way to avoid the potential spread of the coronavirus. However, what if you have to obtain physical money?

Fortunately, there are a few simple, helpful tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other medical experts to reduce the risk of spreading or contracting COVID-19 when you need to get money from an ATM. Read through those five tips below!

• If you need to go to the bank to get money, use the drive-through ATM when available.

• Before using an ATM, wipe down the keypad with a disinfecting wipe before use if possible.

• If disinfecting surfaces isn’t possible, consider carrying a stylus to touch buttons or the screen of an ATM.

  Make sure you store the stylus separately from other items and disinfect after every use.
• Once you obtain your money, try and use a hand sanitizer with a concentration of 60% alcohol.
