Established in 1926, Augusta University’s Forest Hills is a much loved staple within the Augusta, Georgia golf community. This 18 hole course holds remarkable history from Bobby Jones beginning his 1930 Grand Slam of Golf at Forest Hills in the Southeastern Open to College events where future greats like Phil Mickelson (1989), Davis Love III, (1981, 1982) and others competed. Forest Hills is home to the Men’s and Women’s Jaguar Golf Teams and became a part of history again when the Men’s Team successfully defended their 2010 NCAA Division I National Title to earn their second consecutive National Championship in 2011.

The 18-hole course was originally designed by world renowned course architect Donald Ross, but it was renovated by the Arnold Palmer Company in 2004. Forest Hills is repeatedly named “Best Public Course” by Augusta Magazine and offers traditional Southern topography with level, rolling fairways surrounded by magnificent trees.

Set along the banks of the Savannah River, The River Golf Club has established itself as one of the best course designs in the Southeast since it’s opening in 1998.  Our Augusta area golf club is a semi-private facility  conveniently located across from downtown Augusta, Ga in North Augusta, SC.  The club has continued to enhance it’s reputation with club improvements even after being named a top five new course nationally by Golf Digest.

The property that is now Rocky Branch Golf Course,  used to be home for cattle that enjoyed grazing on these 119 acres.  Bill Ashmore of Lincoln County leased the land for his cattle, then bought the land for them to graze on.  But Bill’s son Dave, told his Dad that those 119 acres would make for a fine golf course.  So, in 1995, Bill and his wife, Sue, began building their golf course, which opened October 18, 1996.

Who hit the very first drive off the first tee?  Mr. Bill did, and his drive went down the right side of the fairway, about 160-yards. In 2013, a group of local investors purchased Rocky Branch, and continue to own it

today. What makes Rocky Branch Golf Course so enjoyable to play?  It’s a challenging course on a relatively small piece of land.  There are numerous holes that reflect the elevation changes of the Double Branches community.  On the front nine, you’ll find more ope spaces, and is fairly easy.  Make the turn to the back nine, and you’ll see more trees that define the holes, making the fairways tighter, and the holes harder.  And the creek that goes through Rocky Branch, invites you to hit over it five different times. Reactions from first-timers playing Rocky Branch Golf Course?  They like the pro shop, the large clubhouse, a very friendly staff, good greens with good pacing, and they truly enjoy playing a shorter and more strategic layout!

Above all, Rocky Branch is a good test of golf, no matter what your handicap is, and an exceptional value for players of all ages! Come see us!
