Halloween Tips and Tricks

In recent weeks, McKamey Manor — the “haunted mansion” in Summertown, TN which promises an extreme experience that can last up to 10 hours, and which requires participants be medically cleared by a doctor and sign a 40-page waiver — has received a lot of press. It’s an enticing story: the experience costs only a bag of dogfood, and if you successfully get through the haunted house, you get a $20,000 prize, but no one has managed to win.  The waiver, apparently, says that you agree to — among other things — being shocked, submerged in water, tied up, shaved, and even unwanted dental work (according to Fox17 News in Nashville).

Now, there’s a Change.org petition to shut MacKamey Manor down. The petition says that the Manor “in fact it is NOT a haunted house. It’s a torture chamber under disguise. they do screenings to find the weakest, most easily manipulated people to do the ‘haunt.’ if russ doesnt think you’re easily manipulated, you arent allowed to go.” “Russ” is owner McKamey Manor owner Russ McKamey.
