People Are Not Happy After A High School In McDuffie County Removed Pre-Game Prayer
Earlier this week, Thomson High School in McDuffie County announced it would no longer say a prayer before each football game.
The announcement was part of a wider discussion, and was ultimately enacted across the entire school district.
The decision to end pre-game prayer was made after the district received several warnings that it was promoting a certain religion.
In an effort to honor all religions, the district has opted to use a moment of silence before each game.
News 12 attended the first game since the decision was made and observed that several people in attendance were not happy over the change.

Until recently, saying a prayer before the game had been second-nature for the community. Undoubtedly, it’s going to take some getting used to.
The school system said they had no choice but to offer a moment of silence in replace of prayer, in an effort to keep the district out of legal trouble.
