A College In Georgia Has Just Severed Ties With Nike
Last week, Nike featured Colin Kaepernick, a former NFL player, in one of their ads.
While some people applauded their bold move, others criticized the company for their decision to put Kaepernick in one of their ads.
Apart from playing in the NFL, Kaepernick is most known for taking a knee during the national anthem. At the time, Kaepernick said he took a knee in an effort to draw attention to police brutality.
Now, according to 11 Alive, Truett McConnell University in Georgia has spoken out about Nike’s decision and has severed ties with the company.
The University’s reasoning for no longer buying apparel from Nike stems from the company’s support of Kaepernick.
The president of Truett McConnell University believes that when Kaepernick took a knee, he disrespected troops and law enforcement.
Dr. Emir Caner, the president of the university, made it very clear that his school’s store will not carry the Nike brand unless the athletic company issues an apology to troops and officers.
