If you were wondering if there was more magic to be shared from the incredible Paul McCartney installment of “Carpool Karaoke,” you better set your DVRs now.
On August 20, CBS will be airing a one-hour primetime special called Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live From Liverpool that will feature never-before-aired footage of Late Late Show host James Corden and Sir Paul’s time to together driving around Liverpool, England.
In a statement, executive producer Ben Winston said, “We were overwhelmed by the response to our ‘Carpool Karaoke’ with Paul McCartney. We loved making it and knew we had something special...I think it resonated with people as Paul’s music speaks to every generation, young and old, especially today. The message in the music is as relevant now as it has ever been. After the shoot, while we sat in the edit, we had to cut so much we loved for time. Not only did Paul do a concert in that Liverpool pub, but James and he discussed so much in the car. We are so delighted CBS has given us this primetime special to make an hour-long version of this ‘Carpool Karaoke.’ Now everyone can see the joy of that concert and more of their chat.”
A piece of advice? Have some tissues handy. Personally, this writer didn’t get through the original segment without crying a lot to the point where I had to shut my office door, because I didn’t want my co-workers see me lose it at my desk.
James Corden heads to Liverpool for a special day with Paul McCartney spent exploring the city of Paul's youth, visiting his childhood home where he wrote music with John Lennon, performing songs in a local pub and of course driving around singing a few of Paul's biggest hits.
