“David Bowie Is” Exhibit Being Adapted into VR Experience
Didn’t get a chance to see the traveling “David Bowie Is” exhibit? You’ll soon be able to take it in on your smartphone.
Per the exhibit’s website, Sony Music Entertainment is currently working on an “augmented reality” version of the popular exhibit that will be available on smartphones this fall. In Spring 2019, all major virtual reality platforms will feature the VR version of “David Bowie Is.”
A statement on the website reads, “These new digital versions of ‘David Bowie Is’ will add unprecedented depth and intimacy to the exhibition experience, allowing the viewer to engage with the work of one of the world’s most popular and influential artists as never before.”
No word yet as to how much it will cost to access the VR version of “David Bowie Is,” but a portion of the profits will go to the London’s V&A museum and the Brooklyn Museum, both of which hosted the original exhibit.
