VIDEO: Ann Wilson Talks Covering Bowie on Upcoming ‘Immortal’ Album

Ann Wilson celebrates her birthday today (June 19), but she’s currently prepping a big gift for her fans in the form of her upcoming album, Immortal.

Set for release September 14, Immortal is a covers album that will pay tribute to artists that have recently passed away.  (See below for full track listing.) To honor David Bowie, Ann chose “I’m Afraid of Americans” from his 1997 album Earthling, which was co-written by Brian Eno.

Out of all of the Bowie songs, why did Ann choose this one?

“I just like the song,” she said in the video below.  “I think it’s timely. I think it’s good for us always to take a look at ourselves.”

It’s definitely one of Bowie’s edgier songs, and we can’t wait to hear Ann’s incredible vocals tackle the track.

A limited amount of autographed CDs of Immortal are currently available for pre-order at AnnWilsonOfHeart.com.
