SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - FEBRUARY 26: Singer Rod Stewart performs on stage at the Acer Arena on February 26, 2008 in Sydney, Australia.

Well, now, isn’t Rod Stewart a fine gent — and we mean that.

Stewart has donated £10k ($13,000) to Katie Walker and her Bella Mode Hair and Beauty in Liverpool, a salon for victims of domestic abuse where they can share their stories with others while receiving beauty treatments. Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster were on hand when Walker, a victim of abuse herself, received the Prince’s Trust Young Achiever Award during this week’s Pride of Britain Awards in London and were moved by her story.

“I am very proud to be British tonight, I tell you. Isn’t it wonderful?” Stewart said. “I would like to donate £10k…to your business to keep it going and keep it running.”

Lancaster added that, “Rod and I have been ambassadors for many years, and you (Walker) are exactly why the Prince’s Trust set up the awards. You are a true inspiration, and your voice has echoed across to so many women that need to have that opportunity to say, to express their troubles, and I honor you tonight and thank you very much.”
