Steven Van Zandt Announces Solo Tour Dates
Sparks will be flying off E Street this fall for Steven Van Zandt.
The guitarist will be taking his Disciples of Soul on the road for a North American tour supporting his new album, Soulfire.
The trek kicks off at the Laid Back Festival on September 21 in Holmdel, N.J., and has 18 dates booked through October 26 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. “Soulfire” is Van Zant’s first new album in nearly 20 years and resurrects the band he started during 1982, a couple of years before he left the E Street Band to focus on his own projects — including the anti-Apartheid protest single “Sun City” during 1985 and acting gigs in The Sopranos, Lilyhammer and Hotel Caesar. Van Zandt is also planning a European tour after the North American leg ends.
Van Zandt tells us that he’s just starting to get back into the swing of leading his own band again after a busy 25-plus years of touring with Bruce Springsteen and company again:
[1.55] “It was a little bit of a shock to front the band again. It’s a very different job, man. And it’s gonna take awhile, gonna take me a couple tours to get back into being a frontman. But I’m determined to do that…[11.26] It’s gonna be hit and miss for this first tour, until things get situated a little bit.”
