Sir Paul Tops U.K. Musicians Rich List (Again)

Paul McCartney has done it again; The Beatles bassist ranks No. 1 on the Sunday Times Rich List of musicians in the U.K., with an estimated fortune of $1 billion combined with his wife Nancy Shevell.

McCartney's earning come not only from sales of his own music and concert revenues but also from song copyrights he owns, including the Buddy Holly catalog and a number of American college fight songs.

Composer Andrew Lloyd-Webber ranks second with $954 million, followed by U2 ($706.2 million), Elton John ($373.7 million) and Rolling Stones Mick Jagger ($322.2 million) and Keith Richards ($302.8 million). Ringo Starr ($257.7 million), tied with dancer/choreographer Michael Flatley and Sting ($238.4 million) round out the Top 10.

Others on the list include Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, Roger Waters, Tom Jones, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts and Queen guitarist Brian May.
