8 Tracks That Should Be On Your “Breakup Songs” Playlist

Lindsey Buckingham celebrates his birthday today (October 3), and while his entire body of work should be celebrated, we’ve decided to single out one song he wrote in particular that in the years since its release remains one of the best breakup songs ever.

That got us thinking about all of the other incredible breakup songs in the classic rock genre (and there are A LOT), but we’ve narrowed down our favorites to a tight eight-track playlist that we hope you’ll enjoy in honor of Buckingham’s birthday or if you find yourself working through a breakup of your own.

“Go Your Own Way”

“Packing up shacking up’s all you wanna do.”  BURN!

Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way (HQ)

Go Your Own Way is written by Lindsey Buckingham and performed by Fleetwood Mac for their Grammy Award winning, dimond selling album Rumours in 1977. It is ranked No. 120 on Rolling Stone‍ 's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

“The Breakup Song”

This list certainly would be incomplete without this ridiculously hooky Greg Kihn Band track.
