The special edition Queen version of the classic Monopoly board game is finally coming out June 23, and for the first time, fans got a detailed look at the board game thanks to a special “unboxing” video from Brian May.
The Queen version the following rather clever alterations:
- The property spaces highlight notable venue locations Queen has played in their history, and instead of building houses and hotels on those venue spaces, players can gradually build a stage on the property.
- Instead of four railroads, those spaces are replaced with four of Queen’s biggest hits: “Another One Bites the Dust, “We Will Rock You,” “Radio Ga Ga” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
- The Chance space is now called “A Kind of Magic,” while Community Chest is called “In the Lap of the Gods.”
- Water Works and Electric Company have been replaced by the “Lighting Company” and “Sound Company.”
As previously reported, the six player tokens are references to various from Queen songs, album covers and music videos and include a person on a bicycle (“Bicycle Race”), a hammer (“Hammer To Fall”), the robot from the cover of News Of The World, a radio (“Radio Ga Ga”), a vacuum cleaner (a nod to the video for “I Want To Break Free) and a guitar that resembles May’s “Red Special.”
