Freddie Mercury Biopic Might Be Out Sooner Than You Think

The long-in-the-making biopic about late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury looks to be headed to screens in 2018.

Guitarist Brian May tells Britain's Daily Star that, "The Freddie film is coming...sooner than you might think, next year." May didn't reveal a specific release date, but production has started on the film after several hiccups -- most notably the casting and subsequent acrimonious dismissal of Sasha Baron Cohen from the project over creative differences. Mr. Robot's Rami Malek is now playing Mercury, with Brian Singer directing.

Queen, meanwhile, has a new branded Monopoly game coming, while May and drummer Roger Taylor will hitting the road with Adam Lambert for a Queen + Adam Lambert North American tour starting June 23 in Glendale, Ariz., and running through August 5 in Houston.

May also hinted that will "probably be back around these parts" -- the U.K. and Europe -- "at the end of the year."
